HYUNDAI SONATA ( – ) DEFECT: Where road salt is used to clear the snow in winter it is possible that road salt can accumulate on certain areas of the rear sub-frame and cause corrosion. If action is not taken to address this build up of corrosion it could ultimately cause the loss of control of the vehicle.
Remedy
Recall all affected vehicle to check the sub-frame and if found to be excessively corroded replace it with a new subframe. Otherwise inject wax oil into the sub-frame to extend its life out to a total of ten years.
