HYUNDAI IONIQ – COOLANT MAY LEAK INTO ELECTRIC POWER CONTROL UNIT

HYUNDAI IONIQ ( 04/10/2016 –  31/03/2017) DEFECT:  The Electric Power Control Unit (EPCU) to have some cracks in the aluminium casting which may cause the casting to become porous. The EPCU is cooled by a coolant channel and due to the porous cracks it is possible for the coolant to leak inside the EPCU unit causing the high voltage system to immediately shut down.

Remedy

To inspect the units with UV lamp. If found to be porous the unit will be replaced.
