ford COUGAR UK Recall

FORD COUGAR – PARKING BRAKE RATCHET CONCERN

FORD COUGAR ( 01/11/1999 –  01/05/2000) DEFECT:  The design of the parking brake ratchet teeth can allow a partial engagement resulting in damage to the tooth which can then slip to the next tooth. If ignored the wear will continue on the next tooth and the efficiency of the parking brake may become insufficient to hold the vehicle in place.

Remedy

Replace parking brake lever assembly with one that has a revised tooth profile.
