CADILLAC SRX – POSSIBILITY OF BRAKE FAILURE

CADILLAC SRX ( –  ) DEFECT:  It has been identified that some vehicles may have insufficient clearance between one or both of the rear brake pipes and the intermediate steering shaft. Should either of the pipes touch the shaft a hole could be worn in the pipe causing brake fluid to leak out. If sufficient brake fluid leaks from the system the brake warning light will illuminate and braking would be limited to two wheels. Once sufficient brake fluid has leaked out of the second pipe; brake failure would occur.

Remedy

Recalled vehicles will have a section of the subject pipe replaced with one that has been redesigned to allow sufficient clearance between the brake pipe and the intermediate steering shaft.
