About Us

We know a lot about the problems of cars

Car-Recalls.co.uk is an integral part of the Car-Recalls websites family. We track recalls not only in the UK but also across the European Union and also specifically in Germany. From the beginning of 2023, we will also look at USA recalls.

On Car-Recalls.eu, we have been monitoring vehicle recalls by make and model since 2017. Every week, we add about ten to fifteen records of new recalls to our database.

A recall is legally required to be issued by a manufacturer whose product endangers the health or safety of a customer. These are, therefore, serious and often life-threatening defects. Recalls are quite often announced, even for vehicles older than ten years.

Every week we publish a new article with an overview of the vehicle recalls of the last week, which we send out to thousands of interested parties via our Newsletter. Thousands more follow us on Facebook, where we highlight new recalls as soon as they are announced. Another channel may be to follow our Google News account.

Every year, we publish a detailed summary of all EU vehicle recalls with a table by make and number of recalls, which you can find in our Annual Reports category. Data from our analyses are cited by reputable websites in the UK, France, or even Norway, for example.

Our source for information is the Safety Gate – the EU rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products and Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt – KBA, the German Motor Transport Authority.

On our sister site Car-Recalls.com, we also keep track of recalls announced by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and at Car-Recalls.co.uk, we have information on recalls announced by the UK’s Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

For the vast majority of makes, we also provide information about their reliability based on data from the German organisations ADAC, TÜV and Dekra. In the section VIN Check for Recalls you can copy a sample Check Recalls Request and find the contact details about your nearest authorised dealer.

More than 150 owners of various cars of different ages from all over Europe and the UK have already shared their experiences with us in our Owners’ Reviews subsection.

In short, if you’re considering buying a used car, we have plenty of information on potential issues you should focus on. Hopefully, you’ll find some of them helpful.
